Oscar De La Hoya is the president of Golden Boy Promotions. Richard Schaefer is the CEO of this company. These individuals suspected the boxer Manny Pacquiao in steroid use. Since this suspicion could destroy Pacquiao’ sport career, he filed a defamation lawsuit against Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer, the boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his father.
But then Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum, the CEO of Top Rank, reached an agreement with Golden Boy Promotions. So, the Top Rank fighter dropped lawsuit against the president and the Chief Executive Officer of Golden Boy Promotions. But the defamation lawsuit against the boxer Floyd Mayweather and his father remained in power.
The CEO and the president of Golden Boy Promotions poined out that they denied their prior settlements about accusation in administration of steroids by Manny Pacquiao. They pointed out that there was no any evidence to accuse this fighter in intake of prohibited products. They recognized that Manny Pacquiao was one of the best boxers of all times. At the end of agreement, the president of Golden Boy Promotions and Bob Arum shook their hands.
It is considered that the apology will lead to competitions between Top Rank fighters and Golden Boy fighters.
Since the accusation was directed at Manny Pacquiao, the apology was directed at him too. He accepted it and removed the defamation that was connected with the Cief Executive Officer and the president of Golden Boy Promotions.
At the beginning the the question related to possible intake of performance-enhancing preparations delayed the competition between Pacquiao and Mayweather. It happened because Mayweather insisted on tests for banned medications by the WADA.
Then Mayweather refuted to fight with Manny Pacquiao again, referring to steroid accusation. It led to high impatience in fans because they were expecting the fight.
