British driver demonizes steroids for hitting another motorist in face

However it is not yet manifested scientifically whether “roid rage” is an undesirable result of steroids, these medicines are demonized for some criminal actions quite often.
Michael Barton, a man from Britain, hit a Ford Fiesta, while he was driving his Volkswagen Golf. The driver of Ford Fiesta was Paul Gard. Barton had passed Paul Gard. But then he had to pull back in front of Paul Gard, since another car was driving the other way. Paul Gard flashed him. So, he had to brake suddenly. Barton got maddened, stopped his car, broke the wing mirror of Paul Gard’s vehicle and hit the man in the face. Then Gard’s wife took her mobile and informed police. While she was calling, Barton left calmly.
Michael Barton, a 21-year-old man that has a son of two years old, administers steroids for bulking results. Thus, it has been said that these substances affected his behavior. The defense attorney for this young person affirmed that steroids had a negative impact on temperament of his client, since these medications enhanced his levels of testosterone.
Previously Barton was convicted for certain crimes, including domestic violence. Last year he pleaded guilty to an assault, criminal damage and driving carelessly because of his anger following assaults.
The judge Patrick Hooton affirmed that he was not sure that steroids were responsible for the case. But he noticed that it was totally mad to become furious and hit a person in the face only because he flashed him. The judge claimed that Barton’s behavior was very shameful and he said: “you ought to go to prison”.
Thus, this young person was sentenced to 6-month jail sentence suspended for a year; he was also sentenced to pay 500 dollars in compensation and ?277 for damage of the vehicle.

Green and white tea can mask testosterone use

Athletes become more and more sophisticated in steroid use. They study new methods to mask their intake of prohibited products. Several athletes spend time studying scientists’ statements that can help them to hide that they dope. Nowadays a way has been found: sportspersons may mask application of testosterone with the help of green tea.
Testosterone is a hormone that occurs in body naturally. Thus, it may be difficult for anti-doping agencies to define that a sportsperson has taken testosterone. T: E ratio testing is ordinarily utilized by anti-doping agencies. Such tests may demonstrate uncommon ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone in urine. But it doesn’t have ability to display difference between testosterone which has been created in body naturally and that introduced into body with the help of injections, gels, etc.
Declan Naughton and his colleagues at Kingston University ( London) have discovered that green tea contains such compounds which are called “catechins”. They are able to inhibit the enzyme UGT2B17. This enzyme promotes attaching glucuronic acid to testosterone. If UGT2B17 is inhibited, less testosterone glucoronide is excreted in urine.
Catechins, the compounds that have ability to mask administration of testosterone, are contained in green and white tea. Black tea doesn’t contain such compounds.
Naughton and his colleagues have conducted certain experiments. They confirm that a cup of strong green tea mask intake of testosterone.
Thus, those athletes who take testosterone may reduce amounts of testosterone excreting in urine by consumption of green or white tea. Green or white tea has ability to block excretion of testosterone, enhancing circulating levels of this hormone.
The World Anti-Doping Agency was informed about the findings by the scientists. If this process occurs, it is worthless to test urine. Blood tests must be performed in order to detect usage of testosterone.
Olivier Rabin, the WADA’s specialist, confirms that regular checks of blood steroids will be added. Everything will be done by anti-doping agencies in order to prevent fooling of urine tests.

Bottles sent to Wim Vansevenant that were labeled as doping products were just amino acids

The case related to the former Belgian rider Wim Vansevenant altered surprisingly. An analysis demonstrated that the doping medicines that were ordered by him didn’t contain the contents listed on the labels. He was cheated by the company where he ordered the products.
Last year certain packages sent to the former Belgian rider by an Australian company were intercepted by customs officials. According to the labels of  the intercepted  bottles,  they contained the doping product TB-500. It represents a peptide hormone that has ability to increase muscle strength and promote healing. The Belgian authorities started an investigation. It was believed that Wim Vansevenant supplied the Omega Pharma-Lotto team with doping products. This sportsperson rode professionally 10 years, from 1998 to 2008. Last 6 years of his riding career he was working with this team.
An analysis of the bottles seized by customs manifested that only amino acids were contained. Wim Vansevenant’s lawyer confirmed that the charges had to be dropped. He explained that since the medicine was not related to doping, the former athlete didn’t deserve to be punished.
The prosecutor’s spokesperson Johan Lescrauwaet confirmed that the contents didn’t correspond to the name of the product which was indicated on the label and to the affirmations of the former athlete.
Just amino acids were discovered in the bottles. No any doping product. So, there is no any evidence that Wim Vansevenant provided doping preparations to other individuals.
The hearing of the former Belgian rider was scheduled to be later.

Bruce Goldberger expresses criticism for federal prosecutors in case against Roger Clemens

Testimonies of the famous toxicologist Bruce Goldberger will probably impact greatly on decision of the court in the case connected with Roger Clemens. Bruce Goldberger is the Professor of Pathology and Director of Toxicology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. This specialist testified on behalf of Roger Clemens. Although he was invited in order to replace Don Catlin, the director of the WADA UCLA Medicine, Goldberger’s testimonies didn’t correspond to those that are usually provided by anti-doping agencies. He testified on behalf of the accused sportsman.
Bruce Goldberger has gained his celebrity due to his appearing on various news programs. Even during such programs he doesn’t abstain from criticism. Bruce Goldberger criticized some anti-doping organizations, including the WADA.
Bruce Goldberger criticized feds in the case linked with Roger Clemens. They based on “beer can evidence” provided by McNamee to support that Roger Clemens administered steroids and HGH. Brian McNamee, the former personal coach of Roger Clemens, provided a beer can containing used needles and syringes that had traces of such steroids, as Sustanon, Primobolan Depot and Deca Durabolin and were mixed allegedly with Clemens’ blood.  The beer can was kept by McNamee over 6 years. The toxicologist argued that such basis wasn’t reasonable.
Bruce Goldberger confirmed that it was impossible to base on “beer can evidence”. He added that the accusation couldn’t be proven because the theory of contamination could present.
Thus, Bruce Goldberger didn’t support the evidence used by the government. Earlier he also expressed criticism linked with evidence used by several anti-doping agencies.
Some years ago the toxicologist Bruce Goldberger testified on behalf of the American cyclist Floyd Landis, when this sportsperson appealed positives for steroids. A WADA-accredited lab located in France found traces of exogenous testosterone; T: E ratio and carbon isotope ratio tests were utilized by the lab. Bruce Goldberger pronounced similar words and criticism during the appeal linked with Floyd Landis.
Goldberger claimed during an interview that the WADA utilized inadequate ways and violated rights of athletes in order to reach the success in anti-doping programs.
Floyd Landis lost his appeal and admitted that he had taken steroids, EPO and several other related medicines.
Nobody knows which results will be achieved by Roger Clemens. Will the government prove that he has lied before the Congress? Will he admit to doping? Or will be the results opposite?

Physical appearance of Roger Clemens displays that he hasn’t taken steroids

It is known by each baseball fan that Roger Clemens is accused in obstruction of justice. It is believed that he has lied before Congress about administration of steroids and HGH.
Rusty Hardin noticed that Roger Clemens’ muscularity didn’t change greatly before, during and after his trainings with Brian McNamee. The attorney affirmed that this aspect proved that Roger Clemens hadn’t taken steroids and other related products.
Appearance of muscles is often used by federal prosecutors as proof that a sportsperson uses steroids or/and other related drugs. But this tendency was not utilized during the governmental case against Roger Clemens. Nobody could affirm that Roger Clemens’ muscles displayed that he had taken steroids and HGH. It is a difference between the cases against Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds.
As for the governmental case against Barry Bonds, feds called many individuals in the trial that could testify that anabolic steroids caused evidential changes in physique of this athlete. They claimed that application of steroids led to enhancement of muscle mass, enhanced size of the head and shrinkage of testicles in Barry Bonds.
So, the defense attorney Rusty Hardin provided four photos of Roger Clemens. The pictures displayed physical appearance of Roger Clemens, including the time when Clemens was working with the coach Brain McNamee. The attorney pointed out that the pictures showed that there were no changes in physical appearance that could support that he took steroids and HGH.
The attorney Rusty Hardin claimed that the photos displayed only the process of ageing. The masseur Cheryl Redfern noticed that she didn’t observe any changes in physique of Roger Clemens. Roger Clemens experienced neither back acne, nor abnormal development of breast tissue, nor dramatically enhanced muscle size.
The former Major League Baseball player Phil Garner also confirmed that there were not any essential changes in physical appearance and performance of Roger Clemens during working with Brian McNamee.
Steve Durham, the Assistant US Attorney tried to discredit the affirmation about lack of changes in Roger Clemens’ physical appearance during the cross-examination of the former baseball player Phil Garner. He confirmed that while several steroids increased muscle size, others didn’t induce getting muscles. Thus, he claimed that the photos could say nothing about steroid use.
Federal prosecutors want to take advantages in both cases: in the case against Roger Clemens and in that against Barry Bonds. While they claim that physical changes in Barry Bonds manifest that he has applied steroids, lack of physical changes in Roger Clemens doesn’t prove that he hasn’t applied steroids.

Some persons believe that steroids are responsible for massacre in Oslo

Anders Behring Breivik is a killer of more than 70 persons. He bombed buildings of government in Oslo (Norway). Certain teenagers of the Workers’ Youth League camp were also murdered by this person on Utoya island in July 2011.
Anders Behring Breivik prepared for the massacre essentially. He said that he had had steroid cycles.  Since he used steroids, these medications were demonized for the crimes by numerous reporters.
But what did experts say? Joerge Moerland, a professor of forensic toxicology at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, contested statements of these reporters. The toxicologist Joerge Moerland claimed that anabolic steroids should not be demonized for the crimes. But the expert acknowledged that he couldn’t contest that these drugs could lead to aggressiveness in Breivik.
An ECA, a combination of caffeine, aspirin and ephedrine, was also applied by the murderer. Actually, this combination is commonly applied by bodybuilders in order to lose fat and stimulate themselves for workouts. It was defined that Anders Breivik has taken great amount of the stack. The amount utilized by him was by 50 % more enhanced than it is allowed under European Union’s rules.
The toxicologist Moerland affirmed that the killer’s behavior was more substantially affected by the “ECA stack” than steroids. He pointed out that ephedrine might cause desire to be involved in risky activities. Joerge Moerland confirmed that the killer’s central nervous system had been affected by ephedrine.
Nevertheless, the specialist Moerland mentioned about limitation of the ECA’ impact. The quantity of caffeine consumed by Breivik was equal to circa 5 cups of coffee. Thus, the quantity was not enough great in order to be demonized for the massacre.
The killer described his application of steroids and dietary supplements in details. He also recommended other persons ordering steroids at Alinshop.
Anders Breivik noted that he didn’t like Dianabol because it could lead to liquid retention. He noted that Dianabol could add more body mass than users could carry. According to his statements, approximately 50 % of the mass obtained due to this preparation is water retention. The killer chose some combinations that were suitable for his purposes.
Anders Breivik learnt about effects of various steroids in order to choose those who were suitable for his needs. He affirmed that Testosterone Propionate had certain priorities over Dianabol. He also supposed that combinations of Dianabol with Aromasin or administration of Dianabol followed by intake of Winstrol could benefit essentially.
So, Anders Breivik prepared for the massacre scrupulously. He spent time in order to study effects of steroids and plan steroid cycles and intake of dietary supplements. He also pondered about every detail linked with attacks and murders.
However certain persons confirmed that Anders Breivik was legally insane, it’s wrong. It is evident that the crimes have been committed consciously.

Sydney Morning Herald: motorcycle gangs play great role in smuggling of steroids

The newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” reports that outlaw motorcycle gangs are responsible for spread of illegal steroid use in Australia. The gangs have significant profit and reduced risks.
The detective Nick Bingham has noticed that New South Wales Police doesn’t focus on investigation linked with steroid use but anabolic steroids become targets of investigations, when police officers arrest motorcycle gangs for violation of other laws.
According to the detective Nick Bingham, although New South Wales police officers don’t raid houses of gangs for steroids, they find them, when searches for weapons and stimulants are conducted.
Nick Bingham has confirmed that they ordinarily seize such amounts of steroids from motorcycle gangs which are just for personal use. Amounts of other substances which are usually found in possession of gangs are much greater than those of steroids.
The detective Nick Bingham has confirmed that criminals prefer applying anabolic steroids in order to build threatening muscular physiques. They desire to look big and powerful.
Although Bingham assures that gangs possess steroids just for personal intake, the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” doesn’t agree with this statement. It is reported that motorcycle gangs are implicated in smuggling of steroids.
Although gyms are claimed to be the main sources of steroids for bodybuilders, it is reported by “The Sydney Morning Herald” that several gyms have close links with motorcycle gangs. The Herald claims that numerous seizures made by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service are related closely to distribution of steroids by motorcycle gangs.
According to statements of Australian Customs, mail seizures of steroids have been increased obviously in comparison with past years.
More than 2, 000 seizures were made in 2009-2010 and over 5, 000 seizures of steroids were recorded in 2010-2011.
Numerous seizures were related to personal usage of steroids smuggled by bodybuilders.

David Segui is going to testify against Roger Clemens

Federal prosecutors want the judge Reggie Walton to permit the former first baseman of the Major League Baseball David Segui to testify in the trial related to the case of Roger Clemens. This person had a conversation with Brian McNamee, the former personal trainer of Roger Clemens. It is claimed that they have discussed about administration of steroids by the former celebrated baseball player.
The former personal trainer of Roger Clemens was called to testify against his client because he turned out to be the only person who had direct knowledge about application of steroids and other related medicines by Clemens. Furthermore, he saved injection equipment: vials, syringes and needles that were allegedly mixed with the blood of Roger Clemens. DNA analysis was conducted in order to determine whether it was Clemens’ blood.
Rusty Hardin, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, claimed that the steroid evidence was fabricated by Brian McNamee after the interrogation by federal prosecutors.
But prosecutors claimed that David Segui told them that Brian McNamee said that he saved some things as evidence of steroid use by certain players in 2001. It was several years before the former trainer of Roger Clemens became the target of the investigation.
Information presented by Segui to federal prosecutors differed completely from that provided to Jim Baumbach, a sportswriter. His statements presented to the sportswriter were published in an article in 2008. According to that article, Segui confirmed that he had never spoken about steroids with his friend Brian McNamee.
Segui found out about involvement of Brian McNamee into the trial of Roger Clemens only in 2006, when he read an article in the Los Angeles Times.
David Segui was quite open in his discussions about personal administration of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. He said that Major League Baseball players asked him numerous times whether he had utilized steroids. This person admitted that he had taken them. But David Segui noticed that he had never discussed about administration of steroids with Brian McNamee.
David Segui supported McNamee’s decision to store evidence about administration of forbidden substances by his clients. According to David Segui, it is a right decision because sometimes innocent guys are blamed but guilty persons are covered. Thus, Brian McNamee could help to reveal the truth.
However federal prosecutors asked the judge Walton to permit Segui to provide testimony in the trial connected with Roger Clemens, the decision of the judge is not announced yet.

Andre Berto probably used contaminated dietary supplements

The professional boxer Andre Berto tested positive for Nandrolone. The drug testing was conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA).
He had to meet Victor Ortiz on June 23, 2012 in Los Angeles. Andre Berto agreed to submit to random drug testing before the match. Both “A” and “B” urine samples indicated about application of Nandrolone.
It was already the second time this month, when the VADA tested fighters and caught them administering steroids. The first of them was the boxer Lamont Peterson. He had to meet Amir Khan. It is quite ironically that Peterson requested random blood and urine testing. The drug test conducted by the VADA manifested that Peterson had testosterone of exogenous origin some weeks before the fight.
Financial position of certain companies was affected due to tests conducted by the VADA. For example, Golden Boy Promotions lost great potential profit due to Lamont Peterson’s positives. It was defined by Richard Schaeffer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, that the company lost 250, 000 dollars.
The cancelation of the fight between Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz will probably not cost so much because Andre Berto will be possibly replaced by another boxer who will fight against Ortiz.
As for the boxer Andre Berto, he didn’t explain why he tested positive. He hired the attorney Howard Jacobs that would represent and defeat him.
Berto claimed that he had never taken steroids. Thus, he claimed that he investigated with his attorney what could cause positives for steroids. Berto concluded that he had never cheated; he achieved success in sport due to hard trainings and dedication.
The attorney Howard Jacobs represented many other athletes who turned out to be victims of fake food supplements.
It is confirmed that since the steroid Nandrolone has too long half life and it is detected easily, it is not widespread among doping sportspersons. But it has been manifested many times that some nutritional supplements contained the compound nandrolone which caused positives for steroids. But since sometimes not every compound is written on the label, athletes become victims of contaminated dietary supplements.

Chael Sonnen can use steroids and fight against Anderson Silva

Chael Sonnen, an American mixed martial artist is allowed to apply anabolic steroids. The doctor Timothy Trainor confirmed that this sportsman actually had hypogonadism.
What does this condition represent? Hypogonadism is connected with insufficient production of testosterone. Doctors usually indicate testosterone replacement therapy for treatment of this disorder.
This fighter has gotten a therapeutic use exemption (TUE). So, he is allowed to use steroids for medical purposes and fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 148 in July 2012.
According to prescription of Sonnen’s health care provider, he should introduce injections of Testosterone Enanthate and Testosterone Cypionate twice a week. The doses which are prescribed have not been discussed. But under rules of the Nevada Athletic Commission, blood serum levels of testosterone in this mixed martial artist should remain within normal range on the morning after the fight against Silva.
According to the doctor Trainor, those who compete with TUE must be tested on the morning after the match to determine whether they have utilized something right before the competition.
The physician Trainor suggests that testosterone causes performance-enhancing effects, if it is used right before the fight. He confirms that injections must not be applied in the days before a match to prevent increased levels of testosterone.
But it seems that the NAC is not aware that steroids cause benefits linked with enhancement of performance, not only if they are taken right before competitions. Application of steroids influences significantly on performance during trainings before competitions. And the effects remain even after sportspersons discontinue applying them.
Chael Sonnen had high testosterone levels at UFC 117. He noted that he had tested positive because he had been on TRT.  After his appeal the suspension was reduced to 6 months from one year. But Chael Sonnen didn’t have any TUE that time.

Prominent world champion in weightlifting was arrested, when he tried to smuggle 8 kg of narcotics

The world champion in weightlifting Galabin Boevski was sentenced to nine months in jail because of illegal international drug trade. This sportsperson was arrested in October 2011 at the Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil after he attempted to board the plane with 8 kg of cocaine. Galabin Boevski was headed to Bulgaria. The narcotic was estimated. It could be sold at the price of 500, 000 dollars on the streets in European countries.
Galabin Boevski is a well-known person in Bulgaria. He is claimed to be one of the most famous weightlifters in this country.
First he was caught taking steroids in 1995. Undoubtedly, he was sentenced to suspension.
Then this athlete was caught taking prohibited drugs in 2004. It was the second time when he broke doping rules. Actually, Boevski didn’t test positive for any banned products. But anti-doping officials defined that he didn’t provide own urine. The urine that was provided by this sportsman belonged to another person. As a result, Galabin Boevski was sentenced to 8-year suspension. During serving the suspension he was caught trafficking cocaine.
Galabin Boevski became well-known due to his achievements in weightlifting. This athlete won gold medals at several competitions: at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships in Athens, the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and the 2001 World Weightlifting Championships in Antalya.
At the 2003 World Championships in Vancouver this weightlifter and his teammates from Bulgaria provided urine samples which belonged to another person. It was determined by anti-doping officials that the 3 urine samples were produced by one individual. These sportsmen were sentenced to suspensions. Galabi Boevski appealed the suspension but it was unsuccessful.
Boevski broke several world records at various competitions. He held 3 world records. The best lifts of this sportsman were following: a 162, 5 kg snatch, 196, 5 kg clean and jerk and a 357, 5 kg of two lifts at the 1999 Championships.
It is wondering but this sportsman’s reputation was not spoiled in Bulgaria. He used his status of celebrity in sports in order to establish a Technogym fitness center in Sofia. The center was named Atama Wellness and Spa.
Moreover, Maria Isabel do Prado, the Brazilian judge, affirmed that Galabin Boevski used also his status of celebrity in sports in order to smuggle cocaine. She also noticed that this sportsperson utilized the participation of his daughter in a Brazilian tennis tournament to cover his illegal operations linked with trafficking of the narcotic.
Galabin Boevski claimed that he would appeal the conviction.

Disappointment of federal prosecutors about Roger Clemens’ case

The desire of the federal government connected with the case of Roger Clemens was following: they wanted to prove that this sportsman had lied before the Congress about administration of anabolic steroids and HGH. But the government couldn’t do it. It was expected that Andy Pettitte would tell the jury that Roger Clemens had told him that he had used the banned products during a conversation in 1999 or in 2000. But the affirmation of Andy Pettitee was shocking for prosecutors. This person claimed that he couldn’t affirm that Roger Clemens had used steroids and HGH because he was not sure.
In fact, were the prosecutors of Roger Clemens disappointed by the testimony of Andy Pettitte? This person swore for the 2008 Congressional hearings on intake of steroids in the Major League Baseball that Roger Clemens acknowledged that he had administered HGH. But he pronounced opposite testimony at the Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse in Washington.
Michael Attanasio, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, asked Andy Pettitte whether he may say that he is 50-50 that he has misunderstood Roger Clemens about HGH. Andy Pettitte answered that he is actually 50-50 about this factor.
When the prosecutors heard Pettitte’s answer, they became confused. They stated that Pettitte never said this way, when he was asked several times.
The U. S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton claimed that he understood that Andy Pettitte’s answer has been conflicted. In fact, his testimony was following: “I don’t know”.
The attorneys for Roger Clemens used the moment of the federal prosecutors’ embarrassment. They asked the judge to brush aside Andy Pettitte’s testimony because he was 50-50. According to the attorneys, he probably misunderstood the athlete Roger Clemens or he forgot the details of the conversation.
The government has responded that the jury still allows taking in consideration the testimony of Andy Pettitte. ASUSA Dunham has confirmed that under federal rules jury is allowed to choose which affirmation to believe. This person hopes that the jury will disregard the testimony which doesn’t support the government.
Thus, the testimony provided by Andy Pettitte and his wife led to problems. Testimonies of Andy’s wife during the first trial resulted in the declaration of a mistrial by the judge Walton.
Pettitte claims that he is Roger Clemens’ friend. Clemens must also confirm that they are friends after the last testimony of Andy Pettitte.

Five policemen were shot by steroid user

Police officers came to Cullen Mutrie for a drug investigation. This ma shot 5 police officials at his home. As a result of the shootout, the Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney  was killed; four police officers were seriously injured. The next morning Cullen Mutrie and a woman were found dead.
It is supposed that Mutrie was administering anabolic steroids at the time of the shootout. Jane Young, the New Hampshire Associate Attorney General, noted that toxicology reports were waiting in order to learn whether metabolites of steroids were in the body of this person.
Police reported that Cullen Mutrie had had very muscular appearance. He worked at Genetix Fitness in Seabrook. It was claimed that he was 6 feet 3 inches tall. Cullen Mutrie weighed 275 pounds. During a raid that took place in July 2010 police officers discovered anabolic steroids at his home. The policeman Wayne Young found them in a coffee table. He said that he had observed a plastic bag with several vials. A vial was with powder; others contained solution. The labels indicated that they were steroids.
The New Hampshire State Crime Lab analyzed the vials. It was reported that the vials contained Trenbolone Acetate, Sustanon 250, Boldenone Undecylenate and Nandrolone Decanoate.
The professor of kinesiology John Miller was asked whether a connection between the deadly actions and aggressiveness due to anabolic steroids could present. The professor noted that it was plausible. But according to him, it is impossible to confirm that there was a direct connection between intake of anabolic steroids and the crime.
John Miller suggested that steroids that were on the black market were provided from legitimate pharmaceutical companies. But he has been mistaken because the majority of steroids which are sold on the black market are produced in underground labs. It is even suggested that Mutrie produced steroids.
Since a connection between crimes and usage of steroids is a controversial question, not only police officials but also media investigates the case linked with this killer.

Alistar Overeem never used steroids knowingly

Alistar Overeem, a mixed martial artist, appealed his suspension which was received by him for usage of anabolic steroids on April 24, 2012. But he couldn’t win his appeal against members of NSAC. He forfeited his license for 9 months. Then Alistar Overeem will be allowed to obtain it again.
Alistar Overeem admitted that he had utilized injectable testosterone which was prescribed him by his health care provider. Overeem utilized the strategy which was considered to be boring. He claimed that he had never taken anabolic steroids or other related preparations intentionally. Alistar Overeem tried to make the NSAC think that his injectable administration of steroids was accidental.
The defense attorney for Alistar Overeem was David Chesnoff who has been experienced in representing prominent sportspersons.
Chesnoff called the personal physician of his client to testify during the hearing. It was believed that Dr. Molina would testify in defense for this fighter. Testimonies of this physician were too poor. Dr. Molina provided an explanation for recommendations of certain preparations that led to Overeem’s enhanced testosterone: epitestosterone ratio.
The treating doctor of Alistar Overeem acknowledged that he recommended and injected this athlete with a mixture of Toradol and Dexamethasone because he suffered from an injury. Actually, these medicines are used for anti-inflammatory needs. But intake of testosterone in case of injuries is not approved by the FDA.
It is suggested that the doctor Molina hasn’t informed his patient that these products contain the anabolic steroid testosterone. But it is obviously that he has never asked about it.
So, testimonies of the doctor Molina turned out to manifest lack of the evidence connected with clinical needs for application of forbidden drugs by Alistar Overeem. The physician couldn’t present any reasonable explanation that could justify recommendations of Toradol and Dexamethasone to this fighter. Testimonies of the health care provider Molina worked against Alistar Overeem.
In fact, it was felt that Overeem was a victim of the doctor’s quack.
But it is possible to suggest that this strategy was designed by the defense attorney for Alistar Overeem.
The commissioner Pat Lundval was probably impressed by the defense of Overeem. She even referred to him as to a “smart guy”.
The members of the NSAC seemed to be convinced that Overeem has been actually a great guy but he has surrounded himself with such questionable individuals, as the health care provider Moline. They recommended him to look for more qualified professionals in the future.
