Intake of steroids leaded to excluding of Kathy Jager from competitions

Kathy Jager, a well-known athlete, tested positive for anabolic steroids at the 2011 USA National Masters Outdoor Track And Field Championships in Berea. That’s why this woman was forbidden from participation in competitions. She can’t compete till the age of 70. This is the establishment of the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
This sportswoman took steroids because these drugs were recommended by the physician to improve her hormone balance. According to the establishments of World Anti-Doping Agency, athletes may use steroids for medical needs and take part in competitions, if they have got a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). But as it is known, Kathy Jager did not have a TUE which could allow her to administrate these substances without being excluded from competitions.
It is important to mention that this popular sportswoman doesn’t treat intake of anabolic steroids seriously.
This athlete tested positive for methyltestosterone at the 1999 World Association of Veteran Athletes World Championships in Gateshead (Great Britain) after she had broken world records in running of 100 meters. That competition was between people of 55-59 years old. It was the first time she was banned for application of forbidden drugs. Now it was her second time.
As it was found out, this sportsperson took EstraTest HS that contained esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone in a single tablet.
She said that she had administrated EstraTest for medical purposes. But the World Masters Association didn’t believe and banned her from competitions.
Kathy Jager’s case caused numerous debates. Several people condemned her for administration of prohibited drugs, others justified her.
When this woman was banned the first time, she administrated steroids in order to avoid menopausal troubles. The medications were prescribed by her healthcare provider. Later she discontinued applying recommended products and began to apply herbal preparations.
So, this sportswoman must not take part in competitions till the age of 70 years old. If she had received a TUE, she could compete. But nobody knows whether the World Anti-Doping Agency will give her a TUE or not.
