Jeffrey George is the owner of a former famous clinic connected with hormone replacement therapy. The clinic was called “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Jeffrew George was indicted on charges of illegal distribution of anabolic steroids. As it was reported by investigators, he started tosell controlled substances through his clinic illegally. But in fact he participated in illegal activity of pain clinics located in Florida. The owner of “South Beach Rejuvenation” distributed steroids per internet.
George and his twin brother Chris were leaders of a pain clinic activity. They got 40 million dollars due to illegal sales of oxycodone and other analgesics during 2 years. This resulted in their several charges. Jeffrey George faced also a charge of a murder because a customer had died due to overdosing.
Jeffrey George hid his illegal activity through his clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Anabolic steroids were advertising on the internet and in different magazines linked with fitness as a part of treatment conducted by the clinic.
It was not the first arrest of George connected with steroids. He was accused in possession of anabolic steroids , intending to sell them in 2003. This person was imprisoned to 8 months. Later he was involved in illegal sales of anabolic steroids, trying to bypass Florida’s laws which allowed clinics to prescribe and sell steroids legally. This man didn’t have any medical education. But he established the clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation” and employed certain physicians who prescribed steroids without any fear. One of his employees was Daniel Hauser. He got 5, 000 dollars weekly for prescriptions of steroids for George’s clinic.
Since steroids were sold over internet and clients lived far from the clinic, they had to perform several tests in clinics which were located near to them. Then they filled results of lab tests in the certain blanks and sent to the “South Beach Rejuvenation” per internet. Hauser wrote them prescriptions.
Numerous sales consultants of the clinic took anabolic steroids too. Moreover, they bought large amounts of steroids with prescriptions and sold them on the side. The sales consultants also recommended their clients how to take and stack steroids to reach better results in bodybuilding and sports.
Chris, George’s brother, helped his friend, Chris Hutson, financially to establish a clinic to distribute steroids. Thus, “LA Health and Rejuvenation” was established.
Cynthia Cadet and Robert Meek were two physicians that were hired by Hutson to prescribe anabolic steroids. They received 1, 000 dollars per week.
The persons who opened two clinics mentioned above and doctors hired by them were charged with illegal distribution of anabolic steroids and prescriptions per internet.

It is important to note that Jane Fonda was claimed to be the sex symbol of 1960s. Recently she wrote a new book. The title is following: “Prime Time: Love, health, sex, fitness, friendship, spirit-making the most of all of your life”. You may understand that she writes what people have to do in order to reach healthy life, healthy sex and to be satisfied the whole life. One of the chapters describes methods to increase libido in older people. She doesn’t make any referencies to steroids.
Jane Fonda mentioned about unpleasant symptoms of the steroid testosterone in the interview for “The Sunday Telegraph”. She told that she had stopped applying this anabolic steroid because of acne . Nevertheless, Jane Fonda recommends using the steroid testosterone to improve sex life.
It is known that the anabolic steroid testosterone is a good medication for increase of libido. But adverse symptoms of this preparation may be quite severe. The Food and Drug Administration didn’t approve this medicine to induce sex drive in females. Several persons claim that conservative attitudes to sexuality of women disturbed the FDA from approval of this product for female libido.

Intake of anabolic steroids by actors
Anabolic steroids are definitively taken by various actors. You can see essential changes in actors’ physique in short period of time. For example, a certain actor has played a role in a film, being quite thin, then, after short period of time he plays a role with induced muscle mass. How can actors increase their muscle size in short period of time? The answer is obvious. They use anabolic steroids. But actors deny that they take performance-enhancing drugs.
Jason Momoa in “Conan the Barbarian”, Chris Hemsworth in “Thor” and Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger” increased their muscles essentially to play certain roles. Undoubtedly, this factor caused questions about administration of steroids. But the actors refused to answer the questions connected with administration of drugs that have performance-enhancing effects.
It is known that Jason Momoa enhanced his muscle size by 30 pounds in order to play Conan. An actress, Rose McGowan, that also played in “Conan the Barabarian” pointed out that Momoa reached that results not because of steroids. Jason Momoa noticed that he wanted to correspond to a Frank Frazzeta painting without administration of steroids. It would be ideally, according to the words of this actor. But he mentioned that our world and life were not ideal. Momao confirmed that he had trained hardly. Moreover, he followed a strict diet. He ate broccoli, peanut butter, yams and chicken breast continually.
As for Chris Hemsworth, this actor increased his muscle mass by 20 pounds in order to play Thor. He confirmed that he had eaten a lot. Chris Hemsworth noted that he had eaten and he seemed as if he were busy with an important thing. Chris Hemsworth noted that it had been very difficult to eat, when he was not hungry. Moreover, he had to eat large amounts of food. According to his words, it was very tiring.
It is interesting to mention that Hemsworth never lifted weights before playing his role in “Thor”. Couldn’t you find this factor unreal without steroid use? Nevertheless, the actor pointed out that he hadn’t taken anabolic steroids.
Chris Evens also enhanced muscles essentially in order to play Steve Rogers in the film “Captain America: The First Avenger”. He claimed that he had enhanced muscles because of trainings and a strict diet.

The Anti-Doping Agency of the USA is happy that players of the NFL agree to perform blood tests for HGH
Players of the NFL do not trust methods used by the WADA. Why did the distrust appear? Let try to understand the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) decided to test players of the National Football League for HGH. However the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, certain skeptic thoughts connected with the level of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be only a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
Several experts who are not connected with the WADA activity directly don’t agree with the methods applied by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a main chronicler of steroids use in American football, confirms that the NFL players do not trust the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skeptic attitude of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, says that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH should be transparent. The WADA uses the HGH isoform ratio test elaborated by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to mention that according to some specialists, the method of this test doesn’t have scientific basis. It is not trustworthy. Catlin confirms that this test is not good for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test that can be used by the WADA to determine sportsmen that administrate HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method that is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t use the method of Sonksen to determine users of HGH.
According to Sonksen, employees of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not understand the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by specialists, the HGH biomarker test is more useful than HGH isoform test.
Although experts point out about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t want to to utilize the HGH biomarker test.

New medications for enhancement of muscle size will be soon introduced
Scientists want to elaborate alternative medications to anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. They confirm that athletes may soon have another way to induce muscles. The Salk Institute has noticed that the efforts of the scientists have success. Recent researches have shown that suppression of a genome regulator which is known as “NCoR1” leads to enhacement of muscle mass, energy and endurance. The leader of the researches conducted in the Salk Institute, Ronald Evans, claims that this knowledge may contribute in development of several new medicines which will benefit not only for athletes and bodybuilders who train but also for persons who have sedentary lifestyle.
The specialists of the Salk Institute notice about individuals who are not able to perform physical exercises because they suffer of different health problems, such as diabetes, frailty, immobility and other physical or mental aspects that lead to sedentary lifestyle. The scientists try to elaborate some specific medications that could benefit for sedentary persons so, as exercises benefit for healthy people. Now they make experiments with sedentary mice.
As for anabolic steroids, they may lead to enhancement of muscle size in sedentary individuals. But individuals that administrate anabolic steroids have to train and change their diets to achieve more significant results.
If new products that inactivate NCoR1 are developed by specialists successfully, they will lead to essential changes in sedentary individuals. But can you imagine which positive effects will be caused in athletes?
But there is also an essential difference between anabolic steroids and NCoR1 suppression. It is known that anabolic steroids cause unwanted reactions; some of them may be quite dangerous for health and even fatal. Furthermore, anabolic steroids may lead to severe negative effects especially in women. But as for NCoR1 suppression, scientists assure that preparations which will block this genome regulator will not cause negative reactions.
There is an article about NCoR1 suppression which has the following title: “NCoR1 Is a Conserved Physiological Modulator of Muscle Mass and Oxidative Function”. It represents results of various experiments which involved mice and nematodes. The experiments have shown that NCoR1 suppression benefits for muscle mass very much. The mice with suppression of this genome regulator had got more induced muscles and ran faster than others.
Unfortunately, the mice with NCoR1 suppression were not compared with the mice which received anabolic steroids. If these two types of mice were compared, the results of the experiments would be very valuable for further researches and conclusions.
It is possible to mention that elder people and people that have got muscle dystrophy will be soon enrolled in researchers to find out positive effects of new potential medicines.

Carl Fletcher, a shot-putter from Britain, can’t participate in competitions 4 years. The suspension was pronounced by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) because he was accused in trafficking anabolic steroids. Carl Fletcher distributed more than 15 types of steroids. It was found out that HGH, testosterone and Trenbolone were among the preparations that had been distributed by this sportsperson. The Liverpool Crown Court sentenced this athlete to 9 months in jail.
It is interesting to note that Carl Fletcher never tested positive for any steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs by the WADA. Don’t you think that it is strange? How could it be? One may suppose that methods applied by anti-doping agencies are not effective enough to catch steroid users who participate in world sport competitions.
The WADA and the UKAD try to release sports from cheating and intake of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. These organizations also work together with law enforcement organizations in order to get the necessary effects.
The UKAD noted that anti-doping officials would be allowed to supply information about names of sportsmen who used anabolic steroids.
This case showed that the collaboration between the UKAD and law enforcement is very effective. It proved that law enforcement agencies could help greatly to catch the athletes that apply anabolic steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. It is not possible to overrate the role of these organizations in detection of steroid users in sports. Andy Parkinson, the CEO of the UKAD, is sure that if law enforcement organizations collaborate with the UKAD, the results will be excellent.
The Merseyside Police and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) investigated a certain situation related to administration of steroids by officers at the St. Helens Basic Command Unit. It was found out that Fletcher had been involved in the illegal business conducted by some of his relatives. This caused Fletcher’s suspension from competitions till November 8, 2015.

Some athletes say that Yannick Noah’s article didn’t deserve being made public
Spanish athletes criticized the French former tennis player, Yannick Noah. This man wrote an amazing article “La Potion Magique” that was published in the French newspaper “Le Monde”. This man confirms in his work that Spanish sportspersons have several priorities and win competitions because they take anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. He confirms that Spain has got more loyal attitude to steroid use than France; that’s why Spanish sportsmen have more induced muscle mass and are successful in competitions.
Rafael Nadal, a famous Spanish sportsman, claims that Yannick Noah wrote completely stupid statements and comments in his work. He is surprised how Noah’s work was allowed to be published in the newspaper. Rafael Nadalwho won 10 Grand titles confirms that Yannick Noah doesn’t write such things that are worthy to be published. According to the sportsman from Spain, articles of the former tennis player from France don’t deserve being made public.
David Ferrer, a famous tennis player from Spain, points out that Yannick Noah is an ignorant person. Ferrer can’t understand how a man like Noah that was a professional tennis player and knows the way sport works can confirm such things.
Tennis is not the only kind of sports in which Spain won competitions. Basketball players from Spain won the 2011 FIBA European Championships. Alberto Contador, a cyclist from Spain, won the 2010 Tour de France and the 2011 Giro d’Italia.
Josep Guardiola, a Spanish football manager, claims that Yannick Noah should prove, if he confirms that Spanish sportspersons use steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. But if he can’t prove it, he must close his mouth.
Athletes from France support attitude of Spanish sportsmen to Yannick Noah. They criticize him too. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a celebrated tennis player from France, David Douillet, the Sports minister of France, and Frederic Moncassin, the manager of the cycling Team Type 1 belong also to that persons who don’t support the statements of Noah.

When is manufacture of steroids treated as child abuse in New Mexico?
Ruben Jaramillo, a person in New Mexico, is accused in child abuse. Police raided his house and discovered that his house was a clandestine lab that had manufactured anabolic steroids. According to New Mexico laws, anybody can be accused in child abuse, if he\she even only allows children to be there, where the chemical substances or proper equipment applied for production or keeping of these illegal medicines are present.
When the Albuquerque Police Department’s Eastside Narcotics Team raided the house, they found out that there was a clandestine lab in it. Police found several kilograms of raw powder for manufacture of steroids, such substances, as benzyl alcohol and sunflower oil, more than 150 vials of the controlled substances. Certain vials were labeled “Testosterone Cypionate”. Moreover, police reported that information connected with prices, quantities and types of steroids had been found too. Chemical compounds were in various rooms around the house, including the bedroom and the kitchen.
Ruben’s 2 daughters of 11 and 13 years old were at home, when police officers raided the house.
It is known that New Mexico is not the only state where the manufacture of anabolic steroids can be treated as child abuse. At least 10 other states have got similar laws. Such laws have certain basis.
Chemical substances may be toxic. They can influence on children’s health too negatively. It is necessary also to keep in mind that there is a risk of fires and explosions of certain chemical substances. Parents who manufacture anabolic steroids at home neglect their children’s health. The children can face great dangers in such cases. How can children live in a methamphetamine lab and be free of dangers?
Parents that just administrate steroids differ from those that produce them, especially at home.
This is the first situation in Albuquerque, when manufacture of anabolic steroids is treated as child abuse by prosecutors.

Steroid use is not the main theme of the book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy”
Georges Laraque wrote his autobiography in a book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy”. The author wanted to tell about his life to others. Georges Laraque mentioned also about administration of anabolic steroids in the National Hockey League (NHL). These references about intake of steroids by the NHL’s players seemed to be quite interesting. The Canadian press published just the quotes connected with this endless subject. The rest of the book was neglected.
Georges Laraque told in an interview that he had never taken performance-enhancing drugs. Furthermore, the author said that he hadn’t mentioned any names of the athletes that had taken steroids. The book is indeed about life of the author.
George Laraque mentions about certain ways in order to determine whether a hockey player utilizes steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs or not. Here are 2 ways noticed by him:
1. A hockey player who gains more than 40 pounds in a short period of time must be utilizing performance-enhancing drugs.
2. A hockey player that reduces his weight significantly in short period of time in order to correspond to the rules of the Winter Olympics must be utilizing performance-enhancing drugs.
Of course, all sportsmen, including hockey players, know that they will be tested for steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs by the World Anti-Doping Agency. That’s why they stop utilizing the banned preparations certain time before the Olympics. It helps them to escape from risk of testing positive for these medicines.
But this is not the chief idea of the book. George Laraque wanted to show that a child has to put incredible efforts to become a famous professional athlete in spite of racial intolerance and bullying. But the media doesn’t pay attention on this aspect. The media is always ready to publish stories linked with administration of steroids by sportsmen.
George Laraque didn’t have a goal to to make public the names of the hockey players who utilized steroids.
Of course, the media asks the author to mention the names of the NHL’s players that use steroids.

A two-year investigation focused on steroids dealers caused positive results
An investigation that lasted 2 years detected and shut a large-scale laboratory connected with steroids. The investigation was led under name “Operation Bulk Up”. It was a well-planned activity of the certain authorities in Lebanon (Ohio).
As it was found out, a dealer of steroids distributed these preparations to members of the Cardio Strength Center of the YMCA. So, when the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office was said about it, the investigations started. There was a decision to send an officer that had to pretend being a member of the YMCA to the steroid distributor. Major John Burke, the leader of the Warren County Drug Task Force, was chosen for this need.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA, was the only person at this association that knew about the investigation. He could keep all details he knew about the plans of the Drug Task Force in secret. So, a large-scale organization related to distribution of steroids was detected.
32 persons took part in the illegal activity connected with distribution of steroids. They were accused in corrupt activities, trafficking and possession of steroids. The investigation intended to detect only manufacturers and distributors of steroids. Although the investigation didn’t focalize on people who bought these medications, the officials mentioned that professional sportsmen and bodybuilders belonged to the customers.
The law enforcement seized 600,000 dollars which were claimed to be a profit from selling of steroids, 300, 000 dollars in cash and vehicles and 100 weapons.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA talked openly to media about the results of the investigation. He was not afraid to mention that he had participated in this activity to detect the criminal organization. Caroll said that he was very happy to find out about the positive results.
It is important to notice that it was difficult to detect the illegal organization. The undercover agent had to put efforts to purchase steroids from a distributor. As a result of the investigation, an underground laboratory in Tennessee was detected. It manufactured steroids in injectable form. The raw was purchased from China. The leaders of distribution were Ronald Herbort and Matthew Geraci.
According to Major Burke, face-to-face interactions between distributors and clients were avoided in this organization. There was a special organized locker system which helped to avoid personal interactions.
However this activity connected with manufacture and distribution of steroids was well-organized, the law-enforcement could detect it to close the laboratory. This investigation displays that it can be confirmed the following statement: if the authority gives main priority to such operations, positive results can be reached.

The test for HGH applied by the WADA is not reliable
Players of the NFL don’t trust methods utilized by the WADA. Why did the mistrust appear? Let try to find out the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) decided to test players of the National Football League for HGH. However the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, several skeptic thoughts connected with the grade of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be just a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
Several specialists that are not linked with the WADA activity directly do not agree with the methods used by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a main chronicler of intake of steroids in American football, confirms that the NFL players do not trust the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skeptic attitude of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, confirms that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH have to be transparent. The WADA utilizes the HGH isoform ratio test elaborated by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to notice that according to some specialists, the method of this test is not proved scientifically. It is not trustworthy. The Director of Anti-Doping Research says that this test is not useful for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test which can be applied by the WADA to determine sportspersons that take HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method which is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t utilize this method to determine users of HGH.
According to Sonksen, employees of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they don’t understand the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by experts, the HGH biomarker test is more useful than HGH isoform test.
However specialists notice about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t want to to use the method elaborated by Sonksen.

Intake of steroids leaded to excluding of Kathy Jager from competitions
Kathy Jager, a well-known athlete, tested positive for anabolic steroids at the 2011 USA National Masters Outdoor Track And Field Championships in Berea. That’s why this woman was forbidden from participation in competitions. She can’t compete till the age of 70. This is the establishment of the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
This sportswoman took steroids because these drugs were recommended by the physician to improve her hormone balance. According to the establishments of World Anti-Doping Agency, athletes may use steroids for medical needs and take part in competitions, if they have got a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). But as it is known, Kathy Jager did not have a TUE which could allow her to administrate these substances without being excluded from competitions.
It is important to mention that this popular sportswoman doesn’t treat intake of anabolic steroids seriously.
This athlete tested positive for methyltestosterone at the 1999 World Association of Veteran Athletes World Championships in Gateshead (Great Britain) after she had broken world records in running of 100 meters. That competition was between people of 55-59 years old. It was the first time she was banned for application of forbidden drugs. Now it was her second time.
As it was found out, this sportsperson took EstraTest HS that contained esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone in a single tablet.
She said that she had administrated EstraTest for medical purposes. But the World Masters Association didn’t believe and banned her from competitions.

When this woman was banned the first time, she administrated steroids in order to avoid menopausal troubles. The medications were prescribed by her healthcare provider. Later she discontinued applying recommended products and began to apply herbal preparations.
So, this sportswoman must not take part in competitions till the age of 70 years old. If she had received a TUE, she could compete. But nobody knows whether the World Anti-Doping Agency will give her a TUE or not.
